Baba Low's 486

Once done with quenching our thirst, we moved on to next destination for lunch.486 Baba Low's is family food business specialising in truly authentic Malacca Peranakan.

The stall is tucked in a quiet residential area so most of their customers were locals. The outlet was a shack, or warung as everyone in Malacca calls it, located behind Low Sr.’s house under the shade of several leafy trees.

Baba Low's has one and only one strict rule - offer only ordinary food with an extraordinary taste. The food served are simple and yet simplicity perks up your taste buds.

Poh Piah Kulit Telur - RM2.70

Tightly wrapped within egg and flour skin are substantial amount of stewed julienned turnip, ground peanuts, beansprouts and enhanced with a spread of chilli. The egg skin held the fillings and it didn’t fall apart when you pick it up by the slice, which was not an easy feat.

Pai Tee - RM3.50

Pai Tee is a Nyonya delicacy and I'm ashamed to say, I have not tried it before. I really like the delicately crispy and light flour cups filled with stewed julienned sengkuang, shredded egg and cucumber, and lastly sprinkled with fried shallots. AHHHH irresistible allure of the tasty pai tee!

Nyonya Laksa - RM4.00

Nyonya Laksa is undeniably the signature dish here. Velvety, tasty and spice-rich soup, which are enough to make you drool when thinking about it. In fact, I'm drooling right NOW! Each mouthful was an explosion of flavors! yumz yumz

Good news is Baba Low's has expanded their business to Kuala Lumpur so you don't need to drive to Malacca for a delectable bowl of nyonya laksa.
