Healy Mac's @ Changkat Bukit Bintang

It was a holiday and Friday night when Lern had a craving after watching Man vs Wild, wild boar! The first choice was Bermuda & Onion but I did not want to have it for 3rd time aka so sick of it. Second choice was Werner's but unfortunately they don't serve pork.

@Changkat BB
At last, we landed at Healy's Mac, an Irish Bar and restaurant that serves beer, beef, lamb, seafood and most essentially, PORK!

A Pint of Guinness
A Pint of Guinness - RM20

Lern
His hobby of drinking guinness is back on track!

Seafood Carbonarra Spaghetti
Seafood Carbonara Spaghetti - RM33.00

I was never a big fan of any food that relates to creamy. As for this, prawn, bacons, parmesan cheese, rich cream and white wine blended so well with the springy and firm spaghetti. Me love it!! Besides the serving portion was really generous as we were given 7 fresh prawns. Though we were here for pork ribs, carbonara spaghetti simple stole the limelight. Honestly, I was very very much attracted to seafood carbonara spaghetti than pork ribs.
ps: I had it all by myself!

Roasted Pork Spare Ribs
Roasted Pork Spare Ribs - RM49

Pork Spare ribs are roasted in a rich dark bbq sauce until fork tender and the meat was remained moist and juicy. Scrumptious and no additional bbq sauce is needed! To be honest, I felt it's better than the pork ribs I've tried in B&O, Dave's, and Elcerdo.

Us
Three consecutive weeks of insufficient sleep yields a pale face :(

It's a great place to hang out but not recommended for dating though as it's an al-fresco and bar concept with noisy music played. I did feel awkward seeing people on my left, right and front were sipping their beer while I was having candle lite dinner with Lern. As a whole, the food was beyond my expectation but the limited choices was the letdown. Anyhow, I would definitely make another trip here for other fancier dishes, ie PORK KNUCKLE!

Ipoh Makan Trip - Day 2

I could still remember vividly how often I had visited Foh San in SS2 and the long queue we had to endure. Dim Sum in Foh San has always been rated best by my dad especially Lotus Leave Rice(Hor Yip Fan) that he had always tapao-ed for tea session and that's why we craved for it almost every week. Despite having scrumptious dimsum favored by locals, the service was rather disappointing. Over recent years, their standard dropped dramatically and probably this issue had driven them to closing it down. I suppose.

#1 Ming Court HK Dim Sum (32,34,36 Jalan Leong Sim Nam, Ipoh)
Ming Ting
The journey continues after the first day of hunting food. If you weren't ipohan, most probably and likely you'd opt for Foh San that is perpetually packed. As much as research I did, I can't seem to find the significant difference on ming court and foh san. What I got was both are equally good, awesome and best. I wish I could beg to differ. Knowing we will wake up late as well as late for dim sum breakfast in Foh san and hence we chose Ming Court.

#2 Funny Mountain (49, Jalan Theatre, Ipoh)
Funny Mountain
After filling our stomach with dim sum and keep extra storage for next food, we adjourned to Funny Mountain for a bowl of smooth tao fu fa.

TFF
We were kia-su, afraid that the tff will be finished in a blink and we left to funny mountain as early as possible.

Tao Fu Fah
Consumed with sugar syrup while hot, it was as smooth as silk. Priced at RM0.80 per bowl, I could literally order 2 or 3 or more bowls of smooth tao fu fa.

#3 Kedai Kopi Kong Heng (74, Jalan Bandar Timah, Ipoh)
Satay Sauce
Right after checking out, we ended our food trip at the last destination for a stick of porky porky satay! What else could we opt for since we are chinese! Muahaha

IMG_060
Kong Heng kopitiam shares the same business concept as Capitol Satay, pay for what you consume. It shares the same hygiene concept too, a man tops up the plate with more satay which might eventually be someone else who don't want. I was lil digusted by this, but the porky satay tastes really good.

Visiting Ipoh without savoring ipoh hor fun means an incomplete the food trip. Just before leaving ipoh, we still managed to consume ipoh signature dish, Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun.

4# Sam Poh Tong (Cavern of Triple Gems)
IMG_065
We made a stop at Sam Poh Tong before exiting Simpang Pulai Toll to do some sightseeing on beautiful limestones.

Us being kind, feeding the tortoise with veges, a.k.a throwing the veges at them. Muahahahahha

IMG_071
We were lucky to catch the tortoise fighting show. The left tortoise was kinda ripping the right tortoise's skin off. Urghhh This is evil!

#5 Kek Lok Tong (Cave of Great Happiness)
IMG_093

IMG_100
I was quite amazed by magnificent stalactite found in Kek Loh Tong as compared to Sam Poh tong which allows me to feed tortoise only. Not forgetting the scenic cave view with cool breeze. Ahhh shiok! (since it rained the whole day)

We were pretty satisfied with the food we had but I do believe there are hidden gems that we are yet to try. Thus, more homework to be done :(

Holidays come at the right time after 3 weekends of traveling around and 3 weeks of insufficient sleep. Whatever it is, I still need to wake up in 5 hours time for work. Working on Sunday spells depressed :(

And so, good nite.

Away

Phuket Island & Phi Phi Islands are really breath-taking except being trapped inside scorching hot weather and had delayed flight for twice! AirAsia should learn time management but I guess it would never be succeeded. Watever it is, you better not delay my flight tomorrow! I reckon that's what you get for the amount you'd paid. Arghhh *curse curse*

Promthep Cape, Phuket
Promthep Cape @ Phuket Island

The work has officially started and so does the holiday. Hence, I'll be off to Kota Kinabalu tomorrow for 3 days which implies that imma get another flab!

With that, I bid you good night :)

Berlin Biergarden @ Solaris KL

@ Solaris KL

Another day of dinner, another day of cracking the head on where to eat. It was a quiet night where Lern felt so generous to have posh cuisine *he knows why!*

German Bar & Restaurant
So here we are to bersama-sama have a posh dinner.

Bar

To Arthur!
It's been so long since I last had a sip. Ahhhhh~~

Cheers to Arthur!
Cheers to Arthur!

German Beer vs Guiness
Paulaner Yeast Wheat Natural vs Guinness Stout

Paulaner, a legit German brewery tastes smooth and light has intrigued me to have one or two or more sips! That might somehow be a drawback especially to alcoholic, but that is what I'm looking for. It's one of the only "hefe" or yeast beers in the world with under 100 calories (99 to be exact), which is quite an accomplishment for a robust wheat beer. Now, put calsberg or heineken aside!

German Sausages
Bratwurst - RM28
German Sausages served with sauerkraut & fresh mushroom with herbs & mashed potatoes

Speaking of German sausages, what comes into my mind is HUGE & BIG sausages which would make you feel sick of it. Contrary to popular belief, I was shocked to see the servings of german sausages were pretty small (bigger than average sausage). Keep this in your mind that having too much makes you feel..urghhh! The serving is quite moderate and it makes me crave for more :)

Berlin Crispy Pork Knuckle
Berlin Specialty Crispy Pork Knuckle - RM68
Roasted with Garlic & herbs, served with green salad

Berlin Crispy Pork Knuckle

It was deep fried to perfection, crunchy, crispy, soft meat and not forgetting the sinful fats and drizzled with garlic and herbs sauce! The meat was truly tasty and I was literally scrutinizing at the fats!Totally not a good serving for a person who wants to conceal the flabs she has.

Lern's enjoying the atmosphere
Look, Lern was attracted by dim light and atmosphere.

Service is good, ambiance is fabulous, musics played stimulate you, food is scrumptious, but the damage is horrible! The meal is quite moderate and not very filling considering the price we're paying, but we were both happy with it. We don't strongly support a filling meal for posh cuisine, and that's why we headed for second round, DESSERT!

Phuket Island, Thailand
Will be away to Phuket for four days and Imma dip myself into crystal clear sea as well as PHOTOGRAPHY!

See ya ~

Ipoh Makan Trip - Day 1

Well I'm ashamed to say I had set foot in ipoh for like..er twice maybe? And this explains why we made our way up north to crash the state lived by most pretty girls after few rounds of pestering by Miss Loh. God treated us well by pouring 2 days of continuous rain. On the brighter side, we were saved from scorching hot weather. But dear God, must it rain from our departure till arrival?

It's inevitable that whenever ipoh is mentioned, what comes to my mind is symbolic bean sprout chicken, ipoh white coffee and kacang (peanuts). After much of homeworks done, food list and itinerary were produced few days before the trip. By having a GPS, it simply ease the worry of getting lost too! And so, here we come!

Warning : Savory Images causes hunger and salivating...Continue at your own risk!

Don't say I didn't warn your yea

Leong.Lern.Mei
The picture is self explanatory. Two hours of journey was rather bored despite the rain poured before we exit the border of selangor. Lucky us, we have gadgets to entertain ourselves.

#1: Restaurant Wing Kat Fung @ Menglembu Town
Restaurant Wing Kat Fung
We kickstart our makan trip with famous chee cheung fan, as proposed by Lern. It was featured in star paper too, read here .

Yam Cake
YAM CAKE! I don't quite remember the last time I had a plate of savory yam cake but it does bring back my childhood memories.Steamed savory yam cake topped with fried shallots, scallion, and sesame reminisced about those days of me pestering momma to buy me ccf and yam cake, awwww~~

#2: Restaurant Fai Kee
Restaurant Fai Kee
Next, we adjourned to Restaurant Fai Kee for its famous evaporated milk fish head mee hoon.

IMG_010
Be warned, no outside food is allowed! Oh wait, RM5 will be chargers? Hmmm...........

Fish Head Noodle
Fish Head Mee Hoon - RM5.50

We were practically full and unable to chomp any food but the aroma of broth has tickled our appetite. A bowl of savory broth cooked with mee hoon, crispy boney fish parts and sour vegetables, all I would say is yum yum! WeiCheng was complaining full and yet she demanded for more soup. Silly girl

Dory Fish Noodle
Dory Fish Mee Hoon - RM6.00

One thing I must point it out, I was very much anticipating a longer wait for the noodle to be served. With a ridiculous large crowd and bowl of noodle is cooked one after another, I would say it would probably takes long, long time. At Fai Kee, a bowl of tasty fish head noodle is served in few minutes after placing our order. Felt impressed by their efficiency.

Restoran Fai Kee

#3: Nam Heong Coffee House
Nam Heong
After checking in, we were all geared up for a cup of aromatic white coffee to refresh ourselves.

IMG_014

White Coffee
Known to everyone that ipoh oldtown is where white coffee was born, a cup of rich, smooth and aromatic freshly brewed white coffee has perpetually attracted a huge crowd at any time. I could barely differentiate its genuine taste as compared to Oldtown Kopitiam in Selangor but I can assure you, ipoh white coffee is a stimulant and I was still awake at 1a.m.

#4:Restaurant Perak Unique Seafood
Restaurant Perak Unique Seafood
It gets bit weird as we escaped the usual dinner that tourist should have when they visit land of good food. We totally erased off Fatty and Juicy Bean Sprout Chicken and explored this hidden gem located near The Lost World of Tambun.

Seafooood
And I totally love this place as it reminds me of Sydney Fish Market especially a wide arrays of seafood to select. I was merely dreaming out loud despite lack of ka-ching :( So.. why is this restaurant unique from others?

Basically the pictures have explained the uniqueness that this restaurant portraits.

Sei Tai Tin Wong
Mixed Vege with Sambal - RM8

The Fantastic Four aka "Sei Tai Tin Wong"- a combination of of 4 types of vegetables which consist of long bean, egg plant, lady's finger and french bean, cooked with dried shrimp and bits of sambal.

Otak-Otak Beancurd
Deep Fried Crispy Otak Beancurd - RM2/piece

Fried to golden perfection crispy exterior and beancurd coated with a layer of otak-otak, I must admit this dish deserves double thumbs up.

Deep fried chicken with Chef sauce
Deep fried chicken with Chef Sauce - RM10

Replica of Marmite chicken except bit of spicyness added that creates a distinctive chef sauce. Another thumb up!

Salted Egg Meat Crab
Salted Egg Meat Crab - RM46

Salted Egg Crab is the reason why I'm here for as I'm tired of having kam heong or sweet & spicy style. Selected as one of the signature dishes, fresh meat crab fried with salted egg is simply finger lickin' good!

Me
Look at my expression, salted egg crab is exotic and orgasmic. I'm still missing it now :(

Restoran Perak Unique Seafood
No 5, Persiaran Lagoon Sunway 1,

#5: Tong Sui Kai a.k.a Dessert Street
@Tong Sui Kai
And our last stop was dessert street and we rewarded our poor stomach with a bowl of cold dessert.

Rojak
Just before the dessert hits in, let's chomp a plate of sinful rojak sprinkled with crusted peanuts

Bowl of shaved ice, heavily drizzled with sugar syrup, evaporated milk, filled with loads of mix fruits, crunchy peanuts, cincau, jellies, nata de coco, and topped with a scoop of ice cream. Such a wise decision so that they could digest all the food I had and I feel healthier then.

Tong Sui Kai aka Dessert Street

6 meals a day including our breakie at Silva was pretty heavy and torturous but I didn't find it sufficient. But the aftermath is a nightmare. I could literally feel flabs growing bigger each hour and now I have to crack my head on how to conceal it before phuket trip. Food is love, how can you not love food?
