It was actually a spontaneous trip whereby all of us agreed to drive down to south to catch to-die-for delicacy in Malacca. Talking about Malacca, the first delicacy would always and forever be Chicken Rice Balls. Let's put that aside cause it's now overrated and too commercialized.
To kickstart the trip, we decided to hit Capitol Satay Celup despite multiple times of passing by Capitol Satay Celup but never had the chance to try it since the queue is always long. You might even see the long waiting queue at 12a.m. Lucky us, we were the first group in the queue since we reached around 15mins past 5pm to avoid being trapped in the queue.
Notice the board on top, remember to read it before entering any other shops. Anyway it says, "Please be informed that Capitol Satay DO NOT have any brothers, sisters or branches in Malacca or anywhere else. DON'T BE MISLED!"
Once seated, we were served a plate of bread with cucumbers by the crew. I always thought only ketupat and cucumber go well with satay sauce, not until I try to dip this fluffy and soft bread into the sauce. The combination actually impressed me.
I guess this shop has won the recognition and hence increased the price per stick.
One thing I like Capitol Satay is that you pay for what you have eaten, not what you have taken. So if you can't finish the food you've taken, simply just leave it on the tray. Though it may sounds unhygiene cause you might actually be eating a food that somebody else don't want. If you were talking about hygiene, I reckon satay celup is never your choice.
Assorted food.
During the meal, the crew will distribute the extra "gifts" like big prawns which will be charging at the same flat rate as the others if you have consumed a certain amount of foods.
Satay celup is very much like lok-lok or steamboat except the key difference is the sauce.
Right in the middle of the table is the pot of aromatically rich & orgasmic peanut sauce (satay sauce). I guess it's the spirit of satay sauce that has defeated every other shop. On top of that, the crew will consistently go to each table to blend or add extra peanut sauce to ensure sufficient amount of savors and peanuts. Thus, the sauce will consistently stay at the satisfying level of thickness throughout your meal.
But what I do not like is, the crew will grab all the sticks and blend the sauce. So, where is my food that I've been waiting for it to be cooked?
Hence, we have to observe what our friends eat to ensure they don't eat yours :P
Lern and I had 17 sticks, still couldn't beat the rest.
Coke, a drink you must not miss in a hot scorching day. Like seriously, the weather is unbearable.
Once your done, it'd be grateful to get your ass off the chair as the queue usually get longer and longer and longer in a blink!
After having a dry and hot dinner, you might want a cooling item to reward your throat. Up next, we adjourned to Jonker Street to catch a-must-have dessert, Cendol Malacca!
Look at Lern, he had his cold mineral water to reward his throat first since he was down with slight sorethroat.
AHHHH! This is irresistable!
Hot and cold comes in hand, you must really thank Malacca for awesome food! Anyway I'm still in the midst of trying the real authentic Peranakan food. Tried two but still don't feel satisfied yet. Hmmm maybe I need to hit Malacca once again :)
It's Merdeka Eve but I still don't like Malaysia cause they cancelled MLTR's concert which sounds very very ridiculous, stoopid, or watsoever! Wth!
